Get Involved

The conventional wisdom is that incumbent councilmembers cannot be beaten in an election in Lafayette.  History seems to agree; no incumbent councilmember has lost in election in about 40 years.  That does not mean that our goal is impossible.  Nor does it mean that a close defeat won’t get some of our message across.  In fact, this campaign aims not only to win, but to gain more votes than any other candidate to make clear that the residents of Lafayette demand responsible fiscal management and properly guided growth.  The first thing you can do is join my e-mail list.  I will not send many e-mails, so don’t worry about me clogging up your mailbox.  Just contact me to join.  So, how can you help:

1)  Use Your Voice

The first thing you can do is make sure to vote for me, Gabriel Froymovich.  To make your vote count for more, make sure that you do not vote for any other candidates.  You can cast three votes for the three councilmember positions up for re-election, but are not required to do so.  Additionally, talk to your friends, family and acquaintances and get the word out and remind them whom to vote for in the election.  Get them involved, too.

2)  Show It

Let people see who you are voting for.  Put up yard signs, posters and make flyers available or pass them out to people.  Contact me and I can get you the materials myself.

3)  Arrange for Meetings

I want to get to hear what is important to Lafayette’s residents and get to know as many as I can.  Arrange for get-togethers, where I can discuss important issues with you and your circle of friends and associates.  This is a great way for all of us to become involved with local issues together.  We may not be able to make a big difference in Washington or even in Sacramento, but together we can guide Lafayette toward a bright future.

4)  Stay In Touch and Get Others in Touch, Too.

Keep up with what’s going on by checking the blog on our home page regularly.  It will contain more suggestions of what you can do to help that are all specific to what we need at the time.  Many of them are things you can do from your home, without even taking too much time.  Send us your e-mail too, so that we can add you to our e-mail list.  We do not have the resources of big-time consultants or the incumbents, so being on our e-mail list is a great advantage.  Let us know if there are others who would like to be on our e-mail list, too.

5)  Volunteer

We are a small organization, so we can always use volunteers.  Volunteering can be something where you set aside a few hours a month, like working a phone bank or something as easy as carrying flyers with you to pass out to people who may be interested.  Again, one of the best ways to know what to do, is to check our home page.

6)  Contribute

Of course, even on a local level, winning requires money.  Sitting incumbents generally do not need much, but newcomers have to get their name out there.  You can donate online (though the campaign has to pay a service fee of 6 or 7%).  Just click here and you will be taken to another page to donate; everything is 100% secure.  Make checks payable to The Campaign for a Fiscally Responsible Lafayette, 3546 Wildwood Lane, Lafayette, CA 94549.  Please call me if you need any information for tax-deduction purposes.

There are many was to contribute other than donating money.  Phones to use for phone banking are a major need as is lawnspace, windowspace and wallspace in places where people could see our posters or signs.  Small amounts of office supplies are useful, along with places to host gatherings.  Different types of voter lists are great.  Publicity is always a need and organizations that send out flyers to their own members are a great way for us to broaden our circle of supporters.  Let us know if you can think of anyone you are able to contribute.  Remember, even these types of donations may be tax-deductible.
