I am passionate about proper management of our money by the City Council. I want to make one thing clear, though: the current Councilmembers are hard-working people who are not compensated for their time. Councilmembers draw no salary.
Unfortunately, they do not seem to work toward the proper goal. Surely, if they are holding another full-time job, they have little time to dedicate to aggressively target waste. On the other hand, they seem to have strayed far from the priorities they were entrusted with by us and by those who incorporated the City of Lafayette.
I promise the residents of Lafayette that, as a Councilmember, I will work tirelessly to change this attitude. I am not trying to simply oppose the current Council, but to show them that the people of Lafayette are tired of fixing every budget problem with taxes; are tired of having their needs neglected, while Council and special interest wants are catered to; and do not want to be transitioned from a small city with a town-like atmosphere into a small city with a big city feel.
